When Will the Next Samsung Unpacked Take Place?
We expect the next Samsung Unpacked to happen in the first week of February (2023). The event will likely feature the release of the Galaxy S23 smartphone and the latest OS update, One UI 5.1. Samsung has not yet released any details. The last Unpacked event on August 10, 2022, unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Watch 5. The previous Galaxy Unpacked event happened in mid-March, just one month after the last one, which was on February 9.

Which Products Will Be Announced?
Rumors point to the unveiling of Samsung’s Galaxy S23 smartphone and potentially some new tablets. (In February 2022, the company unveiled the Galaxy Tab S8 series.) Samsung’s August 2022 Unpacked event unveiled the Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 phones, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Buds Pro 2.
Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 Phones
The premium Z Fold 4 phone features a slimmer hinge with a more robust mechanism than its predecessor. Samsung says it’s the lightest one yet. Its primary camera has a 3X telephoto lens compared to the Z Fold 3’s 2X. Samsung also more seamlessly integrated the under-display selfie camera.
The phone has a redesigned app dock at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to switch between apps.
The Z Flip 4 has a redesigned, lighter-weight aluminum hinge. Its cameras are the same as the Z Flip 3 (12-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel ultrawide.)
The Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 benefit from software upgrades that improve low-light photography (nicknamed nightography).
More apps now work in Flex mode, which splits the screen when you fold the phone at a right angle. For example, you could have a video call on one screen and the associated presentation or chat on the other. You can also use the bottom screen as a touchpad.
The Z Flip 4 starts at $999 (same as the Z Flip 3), while the Z Fold 4 starts at a whopping $1800.
Galaxy Watch 5
The latest Galaxy Watch features subtle design enhancements so that more sensors come in contact with your wrist for better readings. There’s also a Google Assistant version just for Galaxy Watches, and soon, you’ll be able to use Google Maps on your watch while leaving your phone behind. Samsung says the Sapphire Crystal glass is 60% more resistant to scratches than the glass used on the Galaxy Watch 4. Pricing starts at $279 for the 40mm model and $299 for the 44mm watch. LTE versions of the watch are $329 (40mm) and $349 (44mm).
Galaxy Buds Pro 2
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are 15% smaller than the Buds Pro and has a redesigned shape to prevent them from rotating in your ears. They also have richer sound and better noise canceling, Samsung says. The Buds 2 Pro will sell on August 26 for $229.

March 2022 Unpacked Event
Samsung announced the midrange Samsung Galaxy A53 and Samsung Galaxy A33 smartphones at its March 2022 Unpacked event. Both are worthy competitors to Apple’s iPhone SE and Google’s Pixel 5a and feature bigger, longer-lasting batteries, upgraded chips, and beautiful screens.
February 2022 Unpacked Event
At Samsung’s February 2022 Unpacked event, it unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, both of which feature an array of improved camera features, including Super HDR mode, enhanced optical image stabilization, and a better Portrait mode. The smartphones feature a 50MP primary lens and a 10MP telephoto lens. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is a Galaxy Note-like smartphone with a built-in S Pen and a full-featured camera. The company also announced three new tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8, S8 Plus, and S8 Ultra. The series features the largest screens and slimmest bezels yet. Samsung is rolling out updates to the Galaxy Watch 4, which runs Wear OS, Powered by Samsung. The updated OS results from a collaboration between Google and Samsung to improve Android watches. New features include improved health and fitness tracking. Google Assistant will be available on the Galaxy Watch 4 in the coming months. The company also highlighted recent upgrades like Samsung’s Privacy Dashboard and One UI 4, the latest version of Samsung’s One UI platform. Finally, Samsung is extending OS upgrades to four generations for its phones so that people can keep their devices longer.
October 2021 Unpacked
The October 2021 event was called “Galaxy Unpacked Part 2.” Announcements included the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Bespoke Edition, which offers 49 different color combinations for those who like to customize their gear. The company says there will be a Bespoke version of the Galaxy Watch 4. A software update includes new watch faces, gesture controls, and improved fall detection. Finally, Samsung partnered with Maison Kitsune (a French brand) for fashion-forward versions of the Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2.
August 2021 Unpacked
In August, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch 4 series, including the Watch 4 Classic created with designer Thom Browne, alongside its updated OS for smartwatches, Wear. Samsung also unveiled the new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. When closed, the Z Fold 3 offers the standard smartphone experience on the cover screen with a dynamic AMOLED display. When unfolded, it provides a 7.6-inch, tablet-like, uninterrupted viewing experience of near-cinematic quality. It supports the S Pen for writing and general commands. There’s also an S Pen Z Fold Edition designed for more intuitive use and has advanced options. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 offers a compact, seamless design in cream, green, lavender, and black.
